Celebrating 36 years in the Philippines, L’Oréal inaugurated its new, future-fit headquarters in Ortigas, highlighting the beauty sector’s vital role and its ongoing commitment to sustainable growth and community empowerment. The event brought together over 350 partners to acknowledge their contributions to L’Oréal’s social, environmental, and innovation initiatives. With its location on the 35th floor of a LEED GOLD certified building, the headquarters runs on completely renewable energy and integrates innovative spaces like the L’Oréal Academy, livestreaming capabilities, and ergonomic, technologically advanced offices to enhance collaboration, well-being, and sustainability efforts.

Societal and Economic Shifts: The Beauty Industry’s Involvement

The “Sense of Purpose” event by L’Oréal Philippines showcased the beauty industry’s role in societal and economic transformation. The sector, encompassing manufacturing to online sales and salons, is a significant source of employment, wellness, and empowerment, especially for women and youth.

“We are not just inaugurating a new office—we are renewing our commitment to act with purpose and lead with impact,” said Yassine Bakkari, Country Managing Director of L’Oréal Philippines. “At L’Oréal, we believe that beauty is essential—to self-confidence, livelihood, sustainability, and progress. This headquarters is a testament of our commitment to providing “beauty for each”, empowering communities and championing sustainable business practices in the Philippines.”

How Beauty Tech Serves the Unique Beauty Needs of the Philippines

With its roots in indigenous customs and a wealth of cultural influences, the Philippines presents a diverse beauty landscape. In the digital age, the country’s beauty scene is increasingly celebrating natural looks, diversity, and broader representation.

Aiming to provide Filipinos with top-tier beauty innovations and tailored experiences, L’Oréal employs its “Beauty for Each” approach, fueled by Beauty Tech for deeper personalization. The “Sense of Purpose” event demonstrated this through technologies like the Lancôme Skin Screen (20-minute skin analysis), Kérastase K-Scan (scalp assessment), and Kiehl’s Instant Skin Reader (smart photo-based skin analysis).

Rallying our Partners Towards a Circular Model

Driven by the need to address plastic pollution in the Philippines, L’Oréal is actively supporting the shift to a circular economy. Through a collaboration with PCX Markets, the company has recovered 875 metric tons of equivalent plastic waste since 2023, equal in weight to approximately 150 jeepneys. The collected plastic is given new life as outdoor furniture and PET flakes. L’Oréal’s Recycle for Rewards initiative with Watsons further engages consumers by offering rewards for returned used beauty products.

Driving Inclusive Growth

Through programs like the Beauty For A Better Life’s Expert Hairdressing Training and E-Beauty Advisor Training, and Inclusive Sourcing program, L’Oréal has supportedclose to 3,000 Filipinos living in vulnerable conditions with beauty and digital education and livelihood opportunities.

“Our goal is to empower 10,000 Filipinos, especially women, by 2030 through our Beauty For A Better Life and Inclusive Sourcing programs, creating more livelihood opportunities in the beauty industry,” added Bakkari. “Our commitment is fueled by our partners who share the same passion in driving inclusive growth. We thank the local governments of Quezon City, Makati, Manila, Mandaluyong, Marikina, Pateros, Antipolo and Taguig, our corporate partners Watsons and TikTok, and our NGO partners SPARK! Philippines, Philippine Business for Social Progress (PSBP) and PCX Markets for their unwavering support over the years.”

L’Oréal’s vision centers on the transformative impact of beauty as a driver of progress in the Philippines. Through ongoing partnerships, it strives to fulfill its mission: to create beauty that moves the Philippines.
