HUAWEI teamed up with RUNRIO, a running events organizer, to host a community run on June 28 at the SM Mall of Asia Complex. The event was part of HUAWEI’s “Active Rings: Enjoy Your Moment” initiative, which aims to promote smart fitness.

Enjoy the Moment from Start to Finish Line

Held on June 28 at the SM Mall of Asia Complex, the event united members of the HUAWEI Wearable community and various run clubs for a morning of invigorating movement and motivation. This Manila run was the latest in HUAWEI’s global series of fitness events, all designed to encourage communities worldwide to embrace healthier and more active lifestyles.

The initiative’s core message resonated deeply with participants, extending beyond mere physical activity. Lara Beriña, an engineer and avid runner, praised the campaign’s timely and intelligent approach. “As an engineer, I’m obsessed with numbers and metrics,” she shared, “but ‘Active Rings’ reminded me to be present and enjoy the journey. It wasn’t just about hitting goals—it was about celebrating the effort, the community, and the joy of movement.”

Throughout the run, participants actively worked towards their fitness goals by closing activity rings on their HUAWEI wearable devices. Regular runner Addy Alajar noted how this gamified approach enhanced the experience. “I’m a visual person, so seeing my progress like that keeps me going,” he explained. “It’s a simple but really motivating way to stay on track and know exactly what I still need to do.” This tangible progress added a significant sense of accomplishment for most runners as they crossed the finish line.

After an exciting race, the top three fastest male and female runners were recognized. In the women’s category, Arielle Chantal Guado claimed first place with an impressive time of 24 minutes and 31 seconds. Trisha Cruz secured second at 26 minutes and 19 seconds, closely followed by Hannah Dacanay in third at 27 minutes and 40 seconds.

For the men’s category, Francis Geoffrey Ramos Parreñas led the pack, finishing in 21 minutes and 32 seconds. John Mark Calves took second, just 13 seconds behind at 21 minutes and 45 seconds, with Josh Campos rounding out the top three at 21 minutes and 53 seconds.

First-place winners in both categories received a HUAWEI WATCH FIT 4 Pro, while second-place finishers were awarded a HUAWEI WATCH FIT 4. Third-place finishers took home a HUAWEI FreeArc.

Smarter Run with HUAWEI WATCH FIT 4 Series

The event offered runners a hands-on experience with HUAWEI’s newest wearables, notably the HUAWEI WATCH FIT 4 Series. Participants like Lara Beriña found their running significantly enhanced by the HUAWEI WATCH FIT 4 Pro, praising its blend of fashion and function. The HUAWEI WATCH FIT 4 Series stood out for its sleek, customizable design and smart, user-friendly features. Beyond aesthetics, its comprehensive fitness tracking capabilities, which Beriña described as “a personal coach on my wrist,” helped users monitor progress and boost performance. Post-run, the HUAWEI Health app delivered detailed insights to further enrich their fitness journey.

Certified holistic health coach, sports nutrition expert, and running enthusiast Nichole Mercado found the HUAWEI WATCH FIT 4 Series’ heart rate tracking to be helpful during her run. “I love that it would give me reminders if my heart rate was spiking a little too high,” she said of the feature. “Sometimes when you’re running, you feel strong and just keep pushing yourself. But if you have a strategy in mind, being reminded of your heart rate is so important in optimizing your effort.”

“As runners, we often strain our necks (from) constantly checking our stats,” said radio DJ and dedicated runner DJ Chacha, who found the crystal-clear audio updates from the watch a highlight feature. She also said, “The health monitoring and sports tracking features boosted my performance. It’s encouraging when the watch tells you your stress level has improved while running. My previous smartwatch didn’t have this kind of feedback.”
