FUJIFILM Business Innovation announced today a significant step in promoting resource circulation across Asia Pacific: the establishment of the Circular Manufacturing Center (CMC) at FUJIFILM Optics Philippines Inc. (FOPH) in Laguna. This new facility will focus on producing remanufactured multi-function printers, with operations set to begin in August 2026. The goal is to make these eco-friendly printers more widely available throughout the region.

The Circular Manufacturing Center (CMC), situated at Fujifilm’s FOPH imaging equipment manufacturing site, will be key to their resource circulation efforts. Multi-function printers collected from the Asia-Pacific region will be brought here, disassembled, and their components thoroughly cleaned, inspected, and repaired for reuse. These remanufactured printers are then reassembled and undergo the same stringent quality checks as new products, ensuring identical reliability. Achieving up to 84% parts reuse (by weight), these “new” remanufactured printers will have their usage history reset and new product details assigned.

FUJIFILM Optics Philippines Inc. (FOPH) is perfectly suited for the new Circular Manufacturing Center (CMC) due to its advanced precision manufacturing capabilities, developed from assembling equipment like camera lenses. FOPH’s skilled workforce, with their deep expertise in assembly and quality control, will apply their knowledge to the remanufacturing process, supported by additional training from FUJIFILM Business Innovation.

By integrating proven manufacturing processes from its Japan remanufacturing site, FUJIFILM Business Innovation aims for consistent quality and a smooth production launch, simultaneously fostering local expertise in resource circulation for Asia-Pacific.

Strategically located in the heart of Asia-Pacific, FOPH provides crucial logistical advantages for the CMC. FUJIFILM Business Innovation plans to leverage this to boost production efficiency, beginning with the ApeosPort-VII, accelerating its commitment to a circular economy.

Since 1995, FUJIFILM Business Innovation has championed a robust recycling policy, establishing a comprehensive resource circulation system that considers the entire product lifecycle—from planning and development to manufacturing and disposal. This long-standing commitment underscores the company’s continuous efforts to reduce environmental impact across all business activities.

Leveraging recycling technologies and resource circulation expertise cultivated in Japan, FUJIFILM Business Innovation is actively strengthening regional collection, recycling, and supply chains to expand its global resource circulation system. This includes the establishment of FUJIFILM Eco-Manufacturing (Suzhou) Corp. in China in 2008, and the Circular Manufacturing Center (CMC) in the Netherlands in 2024, the latter specifically designed to boost resource circulation in Europe.

“With the establishment of CMC in the Philippines as a new production facility to promote resource circulation in the Asia-Pacific region, FUJIFILM Business Innovation accelerates the strengthening of the global production system, the promotion of resource circulation, and the reduction of natural resource input and CO2emissions.” according to Mr. Mutsuki Tomono, Executiver Advisor, Oversseing ESG and Corporate Sustainability, Circular Manufacturing Strategy, FUJIFILM Business Innovation. “FUJIFILM Business Innovation will continue to strive to be a company that contributes to the realization of a more sustainable society, and will actively expand the company’s  efforts to reduce environmental impact by coordinating initiatives in each region.”
