Rising indie pop-rock force Bricks and Blossom officially marks a new chapter in their musical journey with the release of their latest single, “Hindi Na,” out April 17 on all major streaming platforms.
Formerly known as Hey, Leona, the band’s rebranding in 2024 signals more than just a name change—it represents a sonic evolution into a “gritty, lush, and cinematic” landscape.
From Street Sessions to Studio Precision
The four-piece band—JB (vocals/rhythm guitar), Lorenz (vocals/lead guitar), Louie (bass), and Lewis (drums)—carries a history rooted in the skate culture and raw energy of their hometown.
“Our story didn’t start in a rehearsal studio; it started on the pavement,” the band shares.
What began as spontaneous sessions outside convenience stores has matured into a sophisticated collaborative process. The addition of Louie and Lewis solidified the group’s cohesion, allowing them to pivot from their origins toward a more intentional, professional sound.
“Hindi Na”: A Song of Emotional Boundaries

While “Hindi Na” has been a part of the band’s catalog for years, it was completely reworked to match their current artistic identity. Moving away from their earlier style, the track now carries a “physical presence” characterized by heavy drum grit and tense basslines.
Key themes of the single include:
- Self-Preservation: The transition from reacting to situations to deciding one’s own path.
- Setting Boundaries: A shift from emotional pleas to firm declarations.
- Sonic Gravity: A focus on depth and weight rather than just tempo.
“The line ‘Hindi ako takbuhan, sa’yong mga pangangailangan’ is the heart of the track,” the band explains. “It’s no longer a plea—it’s a declaration.”
Professional Evolution at Sunnyside Sound
The production of “Hindi Na” saw the band leveling up their technical standards. Working with Anton Magno at Sunnyside Sound Productions, the group recorded live drums in a professional studio for the first time, capturing a “live-room energy” that defines the track’s grounded feel.
